About the Artist

Julia Marinescu

Born in Oradea, Romania, I now live and work in Austria. After more than two decades navigating the corporate world, painting has become a serious and deeply fulfilling part of my life — a practice that has brought renewed balance, presence, and purpose.

My work draws its energy from the seaside — sunlit beaches, soft waves, glowing skies, the languid rhythm of holidays. These sensations guide both my palette and mood, whether in the way light falls across a figure or the way movement is locked into a stroke of impasto.

"I paint what I feel, not what I see."

Working primarily in oil and acrylic, I build texture and movement through the impasto technique. Lately I've also been drawn into abstraction — letting colour, shape, and surface lead somewhere unexpected. Some paintings lean toward representation; others let go entirely. I am self-taught. My process is intuitive, emotion-driven, and free of academic constraint.
